is a poet and librarian. His work focuses on the city and its people.
He has performed poetry since 1995 in USA, Hong Kong, throughout Europe and the UK
A stunning performer and winner numerous poetry slams worldwide, he has performed in over 1000 Schools and is one of the National Literacy Trusts “Champion Readers.

He has performed in Prisons, Libraries and Universities and was Poet in Residence at Kendal Calling 2010. His poems have been published in numerous newspapers and magazines.
Mike has done residencies in Young Offenders Units, Children’s homes, with Mental Health organizations and works for the Poetry Society, Apples and Snakes, Everybody Writes and a host of literary organization promoting the reading and writing of poetry.
Mike Garry walks like a man and talks like a man and writes like a great northern poet. That's northern as in centre of the universe and poet as in using words to go beyond words. Read him and leap for joy.
